Chris Smith - Managing Director

Chris has over 25 years experience in the Transport Industry.

He started as a yard boy in the late 70’s with Brambles. After a change of direction running a Newsagency, Chris returned to the Industry with Mayne Nickless, holding several senior management positions. Following a term as GM with a local company, Chris and his wife Lea decided that it was time to set up their own Company.

Tranzworks was established in Feb, ‘07

Chris is a passionate Carlton Supporter and loves a game of Golf.

Lea Smith - Director

Lea is at present the very proud owner of Tranzworks with husband Chris.

Lea started work at 15 as a Dental Nurse for a Collins St specialist.

During an 8 year period of owning and operating the Aspendale Newsagency, Lea had 3 great children in Matt now 24, Laura now 22 and Meg now 19.

After the Newsagency, Lea had 6 years experience with a local Transport Company before setting up Tranzworks in Feb 2007.

Lea has a simple philosophy to life, work hard, be generous and surround yourself with great people.

Lea’s favorite pastimes are spending time with her family and friends.  Lea also loves chasing cheap flights to all parts of the world and going to dinners or the cinema.

Michael Blaauw - Victorian Sales Manager

Michael has over 10 years experience within the Transport Industry, working for many of the large Transport and Logistics Companies.

Michael’s Philosophy when it comes to work can be covered briefly in 2 points.

•  “Help him to help you”
   “When there is good customer service, there’s always a happy or satisfied client.”

After a successful 4 year run as BDM at a major Logistics company , Michael accepted the position of BDM at Tranzworks.

Michael is a passionate Hawthorn supporter, and is mad about music (listening, writing, and performing) and martial arts, being a qualified instructor.

Laura Smith - Customer Service/ Administration

As Chris and Lea’s daughter, Laura has been a member of Tranzworks since its launch in 2007. After working previously in retail and as a receptionist in the Automotive Sector.

Laura works primarily in the administration/accounts area at Tranzworks.

Laura is studying to become a psychologist and is also passionate about the arts and interior design.

Karen Thompson - Admin Manager

Karen was the first employee at Tranzworks.  Karen comes with over 10yrs of Transport Administration experience.

Originally from Liverpool England, Karen has been in Australia for 18yrs.  Karen is happily married to Mark and has 2 boys Jack and Billy.

Karen enjoys going to Bali every year for a family holiday and is passionate about Everton Football Club in the English Premier League and  the "occasional" game of Bingo.

Leah Humphreys - Risk & Quality Manager

Leah joined Tranzworks in Jan 2010 as the Risk and Quality Manager.

Leah has 18 years experience in the Transport industry starting as a fleet manager at Woolworths Transport Division and moving into Business and Regional Managers roles with a well known global logistics company.

During this time Leah was also co owner of a Small Transport business for 4 years working with specialised equipment in the building industry.

In her spare time Leah enjoys painting and sewing when she is not looking after her 2 year old daughter Willow.

Gerard Rabot - Logistics Manager

Gerard joined Tranzworks in November 2008, with 17 years experience in the transport industry, already under his belt.

Gerard started his transport career with Mayne Nickless, in a Sales and Customer Service role before moving into various operational roles.

After managing an “outsource solution” division of the business for 1 year, Gerard ended his 6 years with Mayne Nickless to accept an Operations Manager role at a local transport company for a further 2 years.

Gerard then moved to a local courier and Taxi truck company for 8 years, immediately prior to commencing with Tranzworks.

Gerard’s interests are Football (Go hawks), playing cricket and Thoroughbred Racing.

Alan Begbie - Senior Fleet Controller

Alan is our most recent Team Member, joining Tranzworks from a major global 3PL. Alan has vast Transport experiance.

A keen soccer player, without much ability.

Tony Berenyi - Fleet Controller

Tony has too much experiance that can fit in this section.

Tony enjoys a run out with the Dingley Footy Club, likes to have a laugh at work, likes to make us laugh watching him play footy and is passionate about his family.

Nona Wilson-Holmes - Operations Clerk/Admin Support

Nona joined Tranzworks from Toll Procurement working with furniture and vehicle relocations and has done lots of travelling in the past few years. 

Nona is very proud being Queensland born from the Gold Coast and she believe's it’s only a matter of a few years before the Suns win an AFL Premiership (maybe more than a few years)

You will usually hear the music in Nona's car from about a kilometre away...with Nona singing along loudly and badly.

Andy Ewing - General Manager

Andy joined Tranzworks in October 2009.

Andy's has over 20 years experience in the Transport industry having previously held senior management roles as State Manager and National Operations Manager for one of Australia's largest 3PL's.

Andy has exstensive experience in legislative compliance, carrier management and project management.

Andy's No 1 passion is Everton Football Club.
